A balloon test is often performed with a Visual Simulation for a proposed communications monopole and, as in this photo, a red balloon is placed at the height of the proposed construction so that the visual affects of the proposed construction can be more easily determined by GCE’s graphic team.
Visual Simulations

What are Visual Simulations?

A Visual Simulation is performed in advance to the construction of any type of installation and consists of a mock-up of the proposed installation drafted in Adobe Photoshop and other design programs. The mock-up is then superimposed on a current photograph of the location of the proposed construction or installation. Visual Simulations usually accompany a
NEPA Land Use Screening.

How does this affect you?

The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), as well as local governments, will often want to review a Visual Simulation if they have concerns about a proposed project’s visual affect on the environment. As such, a Visual Simulation is a useful and sometimes necessary tool required to obtain federal and local government approval for the construction of an installation.
