Tank Removal

GCE was chosen to perform to closure (removal from its place) of the three; one (1) 8,000-gallon, (1) 6,000-gallon and (1) 5,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks and associated ancillary equipment by using remove and disposal method and investigate/verify the conditions of soil and groundwater as per Nassau County Petroleum Bulk Storage Regulations Article 15, Section 15-2.6(c) and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regulations for a auto dealer ship in East Meadow, New York.

Tank Upgrading

Spill Remediation and Site Closure

GCE was chosen to complete removal of the two (2) 8,000-gallon capacity #6 fuel oil steel underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated ancillary equipment by using remove/disposal method and investigate/verify the conditions of soil and groundwater and necessary remedial action to address impacts associated with the release identified during tank removal activity.

The two (2) 8,000-gallon underground storage tanks were closed in accordance the requirements of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Westchester County Department of Health (WCDH), as well as City of New Rochelle Fire and Police agencies.  During the tank removal activity remedial  work and subsurface investigations were performed at the subject property.   All petroleum impacted soil within the tanks` location was excavated, stockpiled, placed into 20-yards dump trucks and removed from the site and disposed of. In total approximately 7,000-gallons of impacted water and approximately 885-tons of contaminated soil was removed from the Site and disposed of and closure report was completed.

Phase I Environmental Site Assessment

GCE was chosen to complete a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) on behalf of a confidential Long Island automobile dealership to determine if a property, in its entirety, is subject to recognized environmental conditions* which is often an influential step in the decision-making process for real estate transactions and for general environmental due diligence purposes.  Based on the Phase I findings as a follow up a Phase II Site Investigation was performed and based on findings in situ chemical oxidation a remediation technique used for soil and/or groundwater remediation to reduce the concentrations of Tetrachloroethene (PERC) contaminants.

Phase II Environmental Site Assessment

GCE was chosen to complete a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) on behalf of a confidential Long Island developer to determine through subsurface soil sampling and substructure investigation, if potential contamination associated with the areas of environmental concern identified in the previous Phase I Environmental Site Assessment has environmentally impacted the Site. Based on the findings, vertical and horizontal delineation of subsurface contamination-Arsenic impacted soil and vertical delineation of subsurface drainage structure were determined and removed from the Site. The environmental conditions at the property have been evaluated to the applicable regulatory agency and found in compliance with the department’s requirements.

Remedial Investigations/Actions – Site Redevelopment

GCE was chosen to complete a strategic environmental and integrated land development services for the redevelopment of the 16.81-acre private complex within evaluating and implementing the environmental investigation activities, remedial action plan, and remedial action work.  Based on the remediation investigation findings, all contaminated soil was removed and disposed of according to the regulatory agencies (NCDH and NYS DEC).  In total approximately 52,800 gallons of impacted water and approximately 190.28 tons of contaminated soil was removed from the Site and disposed of and closure report was completed

Tank Compliance Inspections

GCE was chosen by to perform site inspections of various facilities for compliance of the applicable regulatory agencies.

GCE personal visited each site and prepared inspections reports identifying potential spill pathways, recommendations for follow-up investigations, and suggested improvements to each facility’s Spill Prevention, Control Plan.
